I found writing the blog for French
Proficient 2 to be an interesting experience. I definitely felt that it
challenged me to increase my French vocabulary and improve my French grammar. It also gave me the opportunity to learn more
about French culture.
On the other hand, instructions for
each blog post were often vague and it was not clear what the ‘genre
conventions’ were. Furthermore, instructions were not clear on how we should
reference our work. As I had never written a blog before, and am not a very
techno-savvy person, I also found making the blog rather difficult at
times.
I found that I got stressed with meeting the
deadlines for the blog posts and would have preferred it if they were more
spread out over the semester. I also felt that for the amount of work and
effort that we put into our blog, it was not reflected in its worth towards our
overall mark for the unit.
Overall, I liked that the blog was different
to any other assessment I have undertaken at university, and that it gave us the opportunity
to be creative. I think that the blog challenged me with writing in French, and
it was very beneficial in this aspect, although I’m not entirely sure I’d like
to do it again.
